Funds for Education and Training

While most medical assistant training programs are unique depending on the school's size, location, traditions, values, and resources, they all use eclectic and individualized teaching methods to teach medical assistant skills.

Apprenticeships provide an individual the opportunity to learn and obtain qualifications in a specified trade or craft. These opportunities vary in length from agency to agency.

Grants provide funds to an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization, usually for a specific project. Monetary grants are given to assist in paying for education, or research and development projects. In some cases, grant awards do not require repayment.

Internships/Externships provide an individual with a monitored or supervised work or service experience where the individual has intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what he or she is learning throughout the experience. These learning goals can include: academic learning, career development, skill development, and personal development.

Scholarships provide funds to an individual who has demonstrated high academic achievement and the desire to further their education in a field of study. Scholarships may be awarded up to four years to an individual.
